Snoop Dogg Celebrates Man City’s Historic Premier League Title — For One Reason

Snoop Dogg has joined in on the celebrations as Man City won a historic Premier League title over the weekend.

The English soccer league’s 2023/24 season reached its conclusion on Sunday (May 19), with the Pep Guardiola-led Man City being crowned champions in a decisive final round of fixtures.

The Mancunian club beat Londoners West Ham 3-1 on the final day of the season to become the first team ever to win four consecutive Premier League titles.

Following the win, Man City received some surprise support from Snoop Dogg, with the West Coast rap legend congratulating them on social media.

Tha Doggfather’s unlikely affinity for City appears to rest on one non sports-related reason, though: the team’s blue colors.

“Congrats to the BLUE side of manchester,” the former Rollin’ 20s Crip wrote on YouTube alongside a video of City lifting the trophy, referencing their rivals, Manchester United, wearing red jerseys — the same color associated with the Bloods gang.

Snoop also shared another video of the team’s on-pitch celebrations on Instagram, captioning it with blue heart emojis.

Snoop Dogg first got into soccer in the early 2000s when he was touring across Europe. According to ESPN, his copy of the PlayStation 2 game Madden got scratched so his team went out to buy another copy.

Madden wasn’t available due to its lack of demand overseas at the time, so they bought a copy of FIFA instead.

“We ended up falling in love with it,” Snoop told the outlet in 2012.

“While we were playing the game, we were also learning about the game and started watching some games on TV. And it was the biggest sport in the part of the world we were in, so I just loved it.”

He added: “I think it can be real big because soccer is a fun sport. It takes an athletic person to play it, and it’s just fly. I think it can catch on.”

Despite congratulating Man City, Snoop Dogg has been spotted repping many other soccer teams over the years, including Man United, Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Ajax, Lyon and more.
