During a Fox News interview, Nicki Minaj says she feels heard by Donald Trump and sees no reason to apologize for supporting him.
Criticism of her political turn has done little to soften Nicki Minaj’s support for President Donald Trump. During an appearance with Laura Ingraham on Fox News, the rapper said she feels a personal connection to Trump and sees no reason to apologize for publicly embracing him.
“Every time I see him speaking to other people, he’s just himself,” Minaj told Ingraham. “He’s very grounded. It’s easy to connect with him, it’s easy to feel like he heard you, he understands you, and I just love him.” She added, “I’m not ever going to make excuses for that, because I don’t know why I should.”
Her comments extend a relationship with the Trump administration that has become increasingly public over the past year. In January, Minaj joined Trump onstage at the Treasury Department’s Trump Accounts Summit and declared herself his “number one fan.”
Fox News reported that Minaj said criticism of her political stance only motivated her to support the president more.
The admiration has gone both ways. At the premiere of the Melania documentary, Trump called Minaj “a winner” and “a terrific person.”
